SERVICES FOR COMPANIES

LABOUR MARKET IMPACT ASSESSMENT (LMIA) BASED WORK PERMITS

Foreign nationals must apply for a work permit from outside Canada. Depending on their situation, they might need a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) or, in some cases, they might be able to apply without one.

PROVINCIAL NOMINEE PROGRAM FOR ENTREPRENEURS

Each Province and Territory of Canada administers their own entrepreneur programs.

In all cases, applicants must have a business or management background, a certain level of assets and be willing and able to establish a business that they operate themselves. Most programs require that applicants be approved by a local community and then start to establish their business, while on a work permit. Once the applicant meets all the obligations of their agreement with the province or territory, they can apply for nomination and, if successful, they can then apply for permanent residence.

INTRA COMPANY TRANSFERS

The intra-company category allows international companies to temporarily transfer qualified employees to Canada to improve management effectiveness, expand Canadian exports, and enhance competitiveness in global markets. This transfer is designed to help companies grow and operate more efficiently both in Canada and internationally.

Guided by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations, the entry of intra-company transferees is also supported by provisions in international trade agreements for citizens of participating countries.

GLOBAL TALENT STREAM

The Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) is designed for employers facing short-term skill and labor shortages, to be used only when no Canadians or permanent residents are available to fill the positions. This program helps address immediate workforce needs with temporary foreign workers.

The Global Talent Stream (GTS) offers a fast and client-focused service to help Canadian businesses access highly skilled global talent. It is intended for innovative firms referred by a designated partner needing unique and specialized workers to grow and compete globally. It also helps firms fill in-demand; highly skilled positions listed on the Global Talent Occupations List.

STARTUP VISA

Canada’s Start-up Visa Program is designed for non-immigrant managers and entrepreneurs who have the skills and potential to build innovative businesses in Canada. These businesses should be able to create jobs for Canadians and compete globally.
To be eligible, you need support for your business idea from one of the government – appointed designated organizations. If you secure this support, you may be able to immigrate to Canada. For detailed eligibility requirements, please click here.
