An investor is a successful business person who has owned or managed a significant business operation in two of the last five years, has a net worth of C$1.6 million and who is willing to invest C$800,000 into an investment fund for 5 years. Because this investment earns no interest the applicant has the option to finance the investment at a cost of C$200,000, which is non-refundable. The advantage for the investor is that he and his family will all receive permanent residence in Canada upon approval, and they do not need to open a business in Canada.
