Provincial Nominee Business Applicants

In all cases the applicants must be successful business people or senior managers with net assets ranging from C$300,000 to C$5,000,000, and be willing to invest from C$150,000 to C$3,000,000, and hire one to five Canadians, that are not members of their family. After approval by the provincial or territorial authorities, the applicants may apply for work permits for themselves, and study permits for their children, and come to Canada to start their business. They must then prove they have successfully made their investment, operated their business, and hired the requisite number of employees before they will be able to apply for full permanent residence status in Canada. In some provinces, the applicants can make a security deposit of between C$75,000 and C$125,000, and apply for permanent residence immediately following approval by the province. They then arrive in Canada as permanent residents, but must establish their business or they will lose their security deposit. The provinces and territories are usually able to approve applications in five to six months and then the applicants can request work permits which are normally issued in less than two months.

Provincial or Territorial nominees are given priority processing by the Federal immigration authorities and will normally receive their permanent residence visas in approximately one year.
